Introduction to Extensive Reading

Note: The first page of “The Giver” (ungraded reader), “The Runaway Jury” (Penguin Level 6), and “The Talented Mr. Ripley” (Penguin Level 5) are copied onto a single B4 sheet which can be used to check students’ levels. You can find this sample sheet in the red Level 3 resource binder on the bookshelf.

Nice stuff Kay!

A small point is that we are calling them ‘ungraded readers’ in the FLSC - and ones suitable for level 3 have ablue sticker and a white spot on the spine.

Your guide is really super!!! I wonder if you could modify it a little (for general purpose use) so it could be a poster to go the wall in the FLSC….

Thanks much, Kay. This looks like a great way to introduce students to ER!

Thanks for your comment, Richard. ‘Authentic novels’ are now referred as ‘ungraded readers.’ I’ll try to revise it for general purpose use.
