‘Soshoku danshi’ are men who are not interested in going out with women, or having sex with women. But they are not homosexual, they just don’t have any interest in love.

They always think about working, their friends and their family. Probably there are many attractive women in their office. However soshoku danshi don’t hit on them, because they are not interested in women. Some aggressive women want to go out with them, because that kind of woman wants to have authority over men.

For example, Japanese actor and singer Tsuyoshi Kusanagi is a soshoku danshi. He belongs to a group called SMAP. Also, he is a pop idol in Korea. Being a soshoku danshi is a good point for his career, because some women like guys who don’t have any interest in love. Usually Japanese women think idols are flirts, but Tsuyoshi Kusanagi is not thought of as a flirt by most Japanese women.
